ABOUT
Alice Tai, RA, is the principal of AWT Architect. She has been working in the design and architecture world since 2008, and has been practicing independently since 2021.
She has extensive experience with high-end commercial and hospitality interiors, developed over several years at Rockwell Group, where she was a Director and Senior Associate. Her clients there included sbe / Disruptive Restaurant Group, Fisher Brothers, OTG, Nike, and NeueHouse. One of her most recent large-scale projects was the transformation of Marcel Breuer’s 1969 Armstrong Rubber headquarters into a modern, energy-efficient hotel with Becker and Becker Associates.
Her current practice focuses on boutique hospitality and private residential projects.
Alice is also engaged in the ongoing restoration and decarbonization of an 1876 Victorian Gothic mansion in New Haven, CT—a property listed on the National Register of Historic Places and her primary residence.
She is a member of citygroup, an architecture and urbanism collective based in New York City’s Chinatown, which received a 2022 League Prize from the Architectural League of New York.
Alice received a BA in Architecture from Yale University and an M.Arch from Yale School of Architecture. She is a licensed architect in New York and Connecticut.
